Audio-visual music project from Sweden, Yellow Majesty spoke to Bronwen Kerry about his abstract music, his latest releases and takes us on a journey into his imagination

Based in Sweden, Yellow Majesty is an audio-visual music project comprised of one man: Amir Haj-Bolouri. Amir, being a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, and lyricist, describes the aura of Yellow Majesty as a ‘disembodied playground’ that bleeds his bleach ego and astute fantasy into another.

Drawn from influences within the rock genre, Yellow Majesty’s sonic landscape builds on a textured outfit of haunting melodies, obscure and suggestive lyrics, versatile guitar playing, heavy bass, dark synthesizers, and punchy drumming. The visual landscape of Yellow Majesty incorporates unsettling and symbolic imagery to reinforce the intense sounds and emotive themes of the music.

’Bastards’ is the latest release of Yellow Majesty, consisting of 7 unique, yet interrelated, tracks. The songs project an intense, surreal, and creative snapshot of our contemporary zeitgeist. The songs are dynamic, complex, catchy, and they aim to stimulate your senses through an emotive core. The theme of the entire release explores and highlights thought provoking ideas that are related to the impulsive nature of human desire, formation of habits, the irony of human hypocrisy, and the urgency of unveiling a truth without any unnecessary layers of contradictions.

Bronwen Kerry chatted to Yellow Majesty on Discover Media Digital.

City Limits is a group of local musicians out of the Tri-cities of Michigan and has just released a new single called ‘The Plan’.

The Plan is a catchy upbeat pop-rock style song with a poker theme. Each and every line in the song is a carefully crafted metaphor pertaining to the personality of the songwriter, however it is written in such a way that it can be taken literally or for you to form your own personal interpretation of its meaning.

Blind Season release their next turbulent single ‘How They See You’ which talks about making light of an awkward situation

Blind Season’s upcoming album is an ode to loneliness and toxicity that feel as if they were ripped from Billy Corgan’s Diary and featured in a film by Tim Burton. With the current questionable climate of the world there’s no question that this album will find its proper home and become a sign of the times.

Their next single release is called ‘How They See You’.
Says founding member of the band, Shane Sigro of the song:
This song turned out a lot different than how I originally planned it to be. It’s a very funny and sarcastic take on a serious situation that I shouldn’t have been in with someone. I had to find a way to make it light hearted and this seemed like the best way. Looking back now I just laugh.

By Small Ruin songwriting is inspired by spontaneous travels and adventurous experiences; their new single Rolling Thunder addresses relationships

By Small Ruin is an anagram for Bryan Mullis, keeping his music and lifestyle as true to self as possible. Busking since high school, he has made his way across the country playing to anyone who listened. His talent and dedication lead to sharing the stage with artists like DAWES, WILD and Briston Maroney.

As a teen, Bryan was notorious for doing what he wanted, when he wanted, including sneaking out of his parent’s house and hitch-hiking a 10-hour ride to Florida to surprise his girlfriend on the beach.

More recently, Bryan’s brother almost lost his life in a car accident. Dealing with those feelings inspired his musical journey that brought him unforetold adventures. He often tells the story of being attacked in a convenience store which “lead to a full-fledged movie-like fight that included knocking over shelves and throwing beer bottles. The store was destroyed.”

From waking up to SWAT teams thinking the band’s van was owned by a nearby active shooter, to unexpectedly playing a nudist pool party of 100+ people, BSR’s thrilling lifestyle is certainly rendered in their music and performance.

By Small Ruin has just released Rolling Thunder, which was inspired by Mullis’ spontaneous travels and adventurous experiences.

This song is about a deep infatuation relationship I had where it was all encompassing – especially at the beginning. After a short time, I was convinced that I could not live without this girl. It’s scary when you get to that point – to realize how much power your partner has to make or break your world with their actions.”

Blind Season breathes life into a new era of music with new single ‘One Final Goodbye’

Rock and Roll and turbulent relationships have gone hand in hand since
the beginning of time. The origins of Blind Season are no different.

Beginning with a rag tag group only forming through the means of owning
instruments, and an evening involving the smashing of a mutual friend’s
car, Blind Season had undergone 5 different incarnations until Shane
Sigro the founding guitarist was faced with the ultimate decision;
between succumbing to normalcy or proving the previous members wrong.
Choosing the latter, Sigro doubled down by taking vocal lessons and
penning the new music that would breathe life into the new era of Blind
Season.

Blind Season’s upcoming album is an ode to loneliness and toxicity that
feel as if they were ripped from Billy Corgan’s Diary and featured in a
film by Tim Burton.

With the current questionable climate of the world
there’s no question that this album will find its proper home and become
a sign of the times.

This song was the last song written in the drunken, sad trilogy, and
funny enough this song takes longer to play than it did to write. Music
and lyrics came almost instantly and it was me accepting that I didn’t
need that toxic situation and I was forcing myself to be happy, I was out
of it. It’s a triumphant ending for this mini story within the album,
and I thank the universe for this song
.” says Sigro

LYRICS – BY SMALL RUIN – LIKE HEAVEN

I know I don’t compare
Not in a million years
You are a queen and I’m a pawn
But I want you for my own

It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down

Was living on the edge
Now I hang with you instead
You helped me find that higher law
You broke the cycle and I’m forever grateful because

It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down

The heart you bring to everything
Your light can thaw frozen ground
You made me feel like a king
I woke up wearing a crown

Think back to when we met
And something that you said
You said I could do great things
I started to agree
You got me to believe

It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down
You’re just like heaven
