After releasing the biggest Hip-Hop compilation album out of Dallas, Texas featuring legends like Paul Wall, Lil Flip, Spice 1 and more, P decided to get back to the drawing board and work on 6 more singles before retiring the microphone.

His first single, entitled “The Triple D Cypher” was released on 6/14/18 which also made history in his city as he featured 14 of the hottest rappers out of D-Town. This project went on to hit every Dallas radio station and it landed a placement to be in a college movie (Dig Deep). It featured Dallas favourites like Mr. Pookie, Big Tuck, Headkrack, Keynote, Motian, Eclipse Darkness, Microphone Lewis, Teleoso, Alsace Carcione, Ritchy Flo, Rakim Al-Jabbaar, Bobby Fisha and IQ Muzic.

After the success of the cypher, P went back to the studio and started to work on his 2nd single which he dedicated to Mother Earth. He named it “My Apology” as he featured Motian, IQ Muzic, Bubba, Susy Solis and one of his all-time favorite rappers, K-Rino. This single was released on 4/22/19 (Earth Day) and the video directed by Nima T won an award from The NatiVisons film festival.

After the release of My Apology, he quickly went back to work on his 3rd single which he named, “Reloaded.” Like always, he hand-picked some of his favorite musicians to collaborate with him. He featured: Flexinfab, Flower Child, DQ Hampton, Eclipse Darkness, Motian, GSpook, IQ Muzic and Tony Ballard Jr. This unique track was released on his birthday 7/31 and within the first week of its release, it was featured on 5 radio stations including 102.3fm and 106.5fm in Los Angeles.

Due to travels, Prynce took a break from music but once he got back, he decided that it was time to work on his 4th project. Since the year 2020 had been tough on most, he wanted to create something fun and comical. Thus, he called on his favourite team once again so they can get back in the studio with him. The team included: Eclipse Darkness, Bubba, Microphone Lewis, Keynote, Motian and IQ Muzic as they started to work on “Rudolf – The Triple D Remix,” their version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer.

This single was released on 12/14/20 which also came with an animated music video. It quickly became a favourite with over 9,000 streams on Spotify within the first week of its release.

Prynce is currently in the lab cooking up his last 2 singles with producers Cloak Beats, Vani Music and Billy Syn which he is planning to release mid-2021.

In 2012, Prynce P along with Kou and Motian recorded a song entitled “Star Crossed” which was downloaded over 997,930 in less than 8 months.

In 2012, Prynce P collaborated with Grammy rapper Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony as their song “On Fire” hit 8 radio stations.

In 2013, Prynce P released his single “My Paradise” which was featured on Chanel 33.

In 2013, Prynce P received an award from Congress Woman Johnson, Amnesty International and The House of Representatives for his single “My Paradise.”

In 2013, Prynce P’s single “My Gift N Curse” beat out 10,000 submissions and had his track play on 97.9 The Beat.

In 2014, Pohectic Life Records and The Valley of the Kings Studio recorded a song with Houston legend, Paul Wall entitled “And Things Will Never Be the Same…” which hit over 9 radio stations in less than 2 weeks. This single also won one of the hottest singles released by an independent label on 97.9 The Beat, making him the first artist out of DFW to have ever earned two wins.

Pohectic Life Records released their long awaited album entitled “14” on 10/14/16 which features 34 musicians.  As of today, this is the biggest compilation Hip-Hop album out of Dallas, TX, history.

In 2017, Prynce P was on the cover of Javanan Magazine Issue #1352, December of 2017.

Prynce P released the biggest cypher out of Dallas, TX featuring 14 of the hottest rappers from his city entitled “The Triple D Cypher.”

Prynce P released his single “My Apology” featuring his top 10 favorite rapper, “K-Rino.” The music video to this single won an award from The NatiVisions film festival in 2019.

On July 31st, 2019, Prynce P released his single “Reloaded” which had 24 articles written about it including “The Dallas Observer.”

We asked Jonathan Arceneaux what the song was about and he said ”

‘Phoenix Heart’ is a very personal song for me. I’ve always identified with the legend of the Phoenix in that I have had to start over many times in my life, picking myself up from the proverbial “ashes” and move forward to the next chapter. It takes an incredible amount of strength and will to keep going after we’ve been knocked down in this life and we all have to have a Phoenix Heart to survive it. This song is dedicated to all of those who don’t give up and don’t quit, no matter what.

Born in New Orleans, Jonathan Arceneaux started singing not long after he learned to talk and hasn’t stopped singing since!

At a very young age Jonathan began his career as a singer in a church choir and started taking voice lessons in both classical and musical theatre styles. During his High School years in Baton Rouge, LA, Jonathan continued singing in the choir and participated in several musical theatre productions.

He also started to tap into his writing talents as a freshman in High School, drawing inspiration from some of his favourite bands and artists like Better Than Ezra, Duncan Sheik and Savage Garden.

Over the years following, Jonathan began to realize that his true passion was singing and writing Pop music, so he changed his focus from classical and music theatre to be a full time Pop singer/songwriter.

He is a passionate, true artist with emotional expression through his writing, production, and performance. Jonathan also enjoys collaborating with other artists to meld unique tastes in sound and texture.

In 2008 he worked with hit producers I-ROC (Universal Music/HappyMadison Productions/BZEE ROC) and RADIO (Chris Brown’s “Dreamer”/Blake Lewis’ “End of the World”).

As a result of the collaboration with RADIO in 2009, Jonathan released “From The Ashes”, under the name Jay Arseno, his sophomore follow up to his debut album in 2008, “Face In You Crowd”, under the name Jonathan Adam.

After the loss of his father to kidney cancer in August of 2009, Jonathan took some time off from music and in 2013 he decided to move from his home in Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA for an immersive experience in the heart of the music industry.

While he learned a lot about the industry and himself, Los Angeles was not a good fit for him. So, in 2015 Jonathan decided to get back to his roots and move back home to the Big Easy, New Orleans. Not long after moving to New Orleans, Jonathan met Konstantin Smorodnikov, a personal trainer originally from Russia who had a love and talent for music as well.

Jonathan and Konstantin had an instant connection as friends and decided to start working on music together. While Jonathan came from more of a pop music writing background and classical vocal training, Konstantin’s background was in the club and dance music scene.

The next couple of years lead to the duo developing a seamless blending of Jonathan’s lyrics and vocals and Konstantin’s beats and instrumentation to create a sound all their own. In July 2018 they were approached by Loren Israel to participate in his song writing mentorship program.

Little did Jonathan and Konstantin know that this would be an integral turning point in their musical journey.

After a year of instruction, guidance, and tough love from Loren and by honing their skills in song writing and lyricism, they have emerged as the duo, N2BLÜ.

Born and raised in Kostroma, Russia, Konstantin Smorodnikov fell in love with music at early age. It was the structure of rhythm and arrangement that most interested him.

Around 15 is when he was introduced to computer music production.

At 18 moved to America where spent most of his 20’s going out to local dance clubs and learning all he could about technical side of production and sound engineering. He drew inspiration from DJ’s like Peter Rauhofer and Abel Aguilera.

In 2016 he met Jonathan Arceneaux. They realized that they both shared a passion for similar sounds and ideas in music and decided to give a musical partnership a shot.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I am a music producer, songwriter, engineer and artist who goes by the name ‘Hot Money’. I own and run my own recording studio facility in London, UK and have worked with names such as Stefflon Don, Stormzy, Krept and Konan and more.

When did you start music?

I started out playing piano from the age of around 7 years old. Later into my teenagers, I got my first computers for music making and started to make beats. Once I started to get good, I attended SAE (School of Audio Engineering) to learn how to make by beats knock and overall mixing techniques.

How did you get into music?

My pops bought me a keyboard for Christmas so I started messing around with the demo presets. After a few months, I asked to learn more about the instrument, he then put me onto a piano tutor.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

Having children whilst pursuing a career in music. When you’ve got the pressure’s of putting food on the table, it steps your hustle to a whole new level.

Are you currently signed or independent?

I am currently independent working on building my own labels.

Who inspires you the most musically?

I am most inspired by beatmakers and producers. I am more of a sound guy so I enjoy listening to the architecture of music productions. Names like Timbaland, Pharrell, Rodney Jerkins will always be legends to me.

Any new music coming out soon?

I’ve got an instrumental album coming out called ‘UK Takeover Vol. 1’. It’s a compilation of beats from UK Genre’s like Drill, Afro Swing and Grime.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

One of my greatest achievements is hearing my early Grime instrumentals take over the UK Club scene. The beats also got crazy radio play on the BBC (UK). I ended up getting a Best Producer Nomination from that!

Do you produce your own music? If not who do you work with?

I produce all of my own music in my London recording facility.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Drake would be the ultimate collab. Just the whole energy around his brand can make or break a beat a lot of the times.

My instrumental album is out now on Spotify and all the big platforms. It’s a collection of UK inspired beats for rappers and listeners all around the world.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

My day is filled with answering emails, organizing studio sessions, making beats and working on my goals in other areas of my life.

It’s about a girl falling in love with a relationship she never saw coming and people talk about it – hot topic. It’s a romantic song talking about the magic between the two and how beautiful it is to know each other so well.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

Making music, making money and university. Making music, developing my fashion brand and networking online. As a CEO and founder of my own label and fashion brand a lot of things has to be dealt by me.

Midwest death metal group Casket Robbery unleash a brutal assault with “From Hell”

Introducing The Small Town. A garage rock project fronted and founded by Chris Bianchi.

What started off as a muse for creating during the quarantine only a few months ago, has turned into a new outlet that is quickly gaining momentum! Hailing from Mantua, Ohio, a small farming village right in between Cleveland and Akron.

The debut EP titled “Let’s Blackout” features three exciting tracks. Kicking off with the dancy “Can’t Stay Awake” leading into “Let’s Blackout” a more foot tapping rock n blues style. Lastly, “Ticket To Ride” hits short and to the point with a repeating catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head.

When asked about The Small Town, Bianchi had this to say “The Small Town project was a long time coming for me personally. The name is derived from literally where I live and am from. There’s nothing here. I’ve gone through a lot of changes, especially, over the past year and this really inspired just laying down what I felt at the exact moment in time. No second guessing. It was so freeing to do so at least on this debut effort.”

Former metal singer Hudson Henry is a producer and DJ who creates melodic electronic music with bombastic drums. After debuting with “Feathers” in 2016, he began releasing more guest-heavy feature tracks. His songs have appeared on Raver Magazine and Liam Hemsworth’s Legend Video.

Hudson has amassed over 450,000 streams on “The Last Time,” featuring Lisa Cimorelli. In 2019 we were featured on the official “Fresh Friday” playlist, which was absolutely incredible. Hudson came up with a unique way to market his song “The Last Time.” He offered fans something called a “digital gift pack.” When fans would pre-order the song, they would receive a digital booklet that thanked each fan for their support. The digital book included lyrics from the song, the official artwork, and exclusive content fans could enjoy while flipping through each page.

This was a personal and unique way fans could connect with Hudson Henry and Lisa Cimorelli. The song itself has a heavy future bass drop along with a beautifully crafted vocal melody. This has been Hudson’s most popular song yet.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

We both grew up in South East London, Thamesmead to be exact. We met each other in school and we’ve been best mates since year 7, grew together over the past ten years, being in the same group of boys etc.

When did you start music?

We Started music in January/February 2020 early on in the year. We were writing a lot before releasing our first song and then we started properly posting ourselves out on socials in June 2020.

How did you get into music?

It was at the beginning of the year, DBE had dropped three tapes in 2019, M Huncho had also just dropped another tape, Nafe was also getting more recognition and we looked at each other and thought, why not? We both love music, love the sound they create, we’d rather be making music than doing a job for the rest of our lives we don’t enjoy, so what do we have to lose? We’ve both loved music for a long time, in particular rap/trap wave.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

We’ve both had to overcome similar challenging issues throughout our lives. Losing loved ones, losing people you thought you’d always be close with because they broke the trust you had, back stabbers, fake friends with fake loyalty, mental health issues etc.

Who inspires you the most musically?

Both our inspirations are similar in some ways, more diverse in others. For example, both look up to the likes of M Huncho, Nafe Smallz, DBE. Individually, Atrip found himself connecting with artists such as JuiceWrld and Rinzo listened to lots of Lil Wayne just to name one each as there’s far too many!

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

We want people to take positive and wavy/creative vibes from our music but also the reality that life is tough. You do have pain and tough times, but you will always get through them and be stronger.

Any new music coming out soon?

Yes! Lots! The next single we will be releasing is called Sprite towards the end of November but over the next 2 months leading into the new year, people can expect to see at least 4 new singles.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

Our greatest achievement as musicians is just getting into the booth and writing and producing our first song putting it out to people. It can be hard to find the courage to step into the booth for the first time but with the right mentality and people working with us we did it with ease.

Do you produce your own music? If not who do you work with?

We produce our music by finding beats we both like on YouTube and then working with different producers that way. We enjoy reaching out to new producers and finding different sounds that other producers offer.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Picking one is very tough.

If it had to be one Rinzo would love to work with M Huncho, hearing what people say, he’s a really genuine guy, fun to be around and the studio would have incredible vibes. Atrip would love to work with Nafe Smallz, for similar reasons above, plus, he’s met him once already!

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

Sprite is coming out this November. Sprite is a fun song we expect people to play at max volume and have a good time to. Throughout the song there’s mentions of all of the challenging issues we mentioned above. Trust issues, some elements of drug abuse, mental health, other elements of us having fun and enjoying yourself so yeah, quite a mixed bag to say the least. We just met one day and wrote what we felt at the time.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

Day in the life of OCR is wake up, vibe out, link up and then browse beats, write bars and work on perfecting our music. We spend a lot of time chilling in the car writing, studio and our yards.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

We’re just two ordinary guys that want to create great music, consistently and help to influence the music industry. We’re always looking to improve, try new things and always want feedback from people outside of our circle.

London-based artist Prinz Leo released his new single The More You Give featuring the Portuguese singer Ola Ruth on Friday, 27th November 2020.

Prinz Leo was talking the inspiration for this song in an interview “When I moved from Austria to London I first lived in in Peckham (South London). I often saw Josh, a homeless man without legs, in his wheelchair. He always smiled at people wishing them a great day instead of begging for money. I sometimes gave him some coins. One day, I was busking in Peckham, Josh came over to listen and watch my performance and threw money in my guitar case. This event was so touching and a very powerful life lesson: The More You Give The More You Get (I’m talking about the kind of giving where you don’t expect anything in return).”

‘The Dark Bedroom’ represents a schizophrenic feeling that can be hard to pin point at times. Feeling trapped within yourself and just not leaving your room for days on end.

Rock and Roll and turbulent relationships have gone hand in hand since the beginning of time. The origins of Blind Season are no different. Beginning with a rag tag group only forming through the means of owning instruments, and an evening involving the smashing of a mutual friend’s car.

Blind Season had undergone 5 different incarnations until Shane Sigro the founding guitarist was faced with the ultimate decision between succumbing to normalcy or proving the previous members wrong.

Choosing the latter, Sigro doubled down by taking vocal lessons and penning the new music that would breathe life into the new era of Blind Season.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I have a degree in animation but then I discovered music production and audio engineering and gravitated towards it in my mid twenties. My journey has taken me to living and training in the Caribbean, starting off as a studio assistant and then working up to being a producer and engineer. After 4 years abroad, I’m no residing back in the UK running a studio and also Lecturing at the Academy of Contemporary Music teaching music production and audio engineering.

Where are you from?

I was born in England, my mother is from Trinidad and my dad is from Mauritius.

When did you start music?

I have always been into music, that transformed into DJ-ing in my teens, but it was just a hobby. After obtaining my BA in Animation thats when I started to get into music production and I started taking it seriously.

How did you get into music?

After graduating with my degree in animation I was doing a freelance Job in Brixton. It was in a complex that housed many offices and studio spaces. A lot of then were occupied by creatives, from filmakers, dancers, music studio producers. I was at this job for like 8 months and got to know some of the music studio owners and one day I asked if I can have a dabble for a few hours. I instantly fell in love with it and the rest is history.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

Being creative can be tough for anyone, I already had a degree and was very good at what I was doing with art and animation so for me it was uprooting myself to follow my dream and start all again to learn something different.

Are you currently signed or independent?

I am an independent however I have a management deal with 1 2 One Entertainment.

Who inspires you the most musically?

Tough question, but I think Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music

That they have not just heard something I have done or something I have contributed towards, but they have experienced something about who I am.

Yes! Working very closely with Krishane (son of the Reggae legend Barrington Levy). We have something we have been working on few things now for a while, things will drop as and when its ready, so watch this space, its happening soon!

When I started teaching students at a degree level. I’ve not been formally trained in music, so I always had a self belief that I couldn’t teach it. Its very touching when some of these kids are so eager to learn from you.

Yes, pretty much all of my music is created and mixed by me. I have worked and collaborated with other producers, I think more now than ever collaboration is important.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Ok someone who is no longer with us: Michael Jackson, I think doing a record with him will not just be the creation of something memorable, but I believe I would have been pushed and taken away some valuable lessons about music and life. The other person(s) would be the Marley brothers especially Jr. Gong and Stephen.

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

I have a record with Krishane called Lockdown that has been in development for a while now.

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

Always a cup of tea to start the day, after it all depends on if I’m teaching or not. If I’m teaching all day, I will very rarely end up in the studio in the evening unless its a must. I’ve started to value my down time as much as my time creating, that balance is important. If I’m not teaching, it all depends how I feel, I might make some music, or finish off any pending mixes, but if I’m not doing any of those things I dedicate time to learn new things about what I’m doing within music and audio engineering, this industry moves very fast and I think that its important to always be a student to your craft.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

When I’m not in the studio I really enjoy cooking.

Temani is a singer / songwriter / producer from Cincinnati Ohio. He is 22 years of age and attended Dohn High School also in Cincinnati.

He has been singing and performing since the age of 13. At the age of 15 he joined Starsworldwide. While there he took vocal lessons, made beats and honed his production skills. He also performed in their Motown Tribute as one of the Temptations and went on to become artist in residence at Elementz Urban Youth Arts Center.

N2BLÜ POP HISTORY

Born in New Orleans, Jonathan Arceneaux started singing not long after he learned to talk and hasn’t stopped singing since!

At a very young age Jonathan began his career as a singer in a church choir and started taking voice lessons in both classical and musical theatre styles. During his High School years in Baton Rouge, LA, Jonathan continued singing in the choir and participated in several musical theatre productions. He also started to tap into his writing talents as a freshman in High School, drawing inspiration from some of his favourite bands and artists like Better Than Ezra, Duncan Sheik and Savage Garden.

Over the years following, Jonathan began to realize that his true passion was singing and writing Pop music, so he changed his focus from classical and music theatre to be a full time Pop singer/songwriter. He is a passionate, true artist with emotional expression through his writing, production, and performance. Jonathan also enjoys collaborating with other artists to meld unique tastes in sound and texture.

In 2008 he worked with hit producers I-ROC (Universal Music/HappyMadison Productions/BZEE ROC) and RADIO (Chris Brown’s “Dreamer”/Blake Lewis’ “End of the World”).

As a result of the collaboration with RADIO in 2009, Jonathan released “From The Ashes”, under the name Jay Arseno, his sophomore follow up to his debut album in 2008, “Face In You Crowd”, under the name Jonathan Adam.

After the loss of his father to kidney cancer in August of 2009, Jonathan took some time off from music and in 2013 he decided to move from his home in Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA for an immersive experience in the heart of the music industry.

While he learned a lot about the industry and himself, Los Angeles was not a good fit for him. So, in 2015 Jonathan decided to get back to his roots and move back home to the Big Easy, New Orleans. Not long after moving to New Orleans, Jonathan met Konstantin Smorodnikov, a personal trainer originally from Russia who had a love and talent for music as well.

Jonathan and Konstantin had an instant connection as friends and decided to start working on music together. While Jonathan came from more of a pop music writing background and classical vocal training, Konstantin’s background was in the club and dance music scene. The next couple of years lead to the duo developing a seamless blending of Jonathan’s lyrics and vocals and Konstantin’s beats and instrumentation to create a sound all their own. In July 2018 they were approached by Loren Israel to participate in his song writing mentorship program.

Little did Jonathan and Konstantin know that this would be an integral turning point in their musical journey.

After a year of instruction, guidance, and tough love from Loren and by honing their skills in song writing and lyricism, they have emerged as the duo, N2BLÜ.

Born and raised in Kostroma, Russia, Konstantin Smorodnikov fell in love with music at early age. It was the structure of rhythm and arrangement that most interested him.

Around 15 is when he was introduced to computer music production.

At 18 moved to America where spent most of his 20’s going out to local dance clubs and learning all he could about technical side of production and sound engineering. He drew inspiration from DJ’s like Peter Rauhofer and Abel Aguilera.

In 2016 he met Jonathan Arceneaux. They realized that they both shared a passion for similar sounds and ideas in music and decided to give a musical partnership a shot.

Fitzsimon and Brogan were both members of the band, Pretty Blue Gun, who were signed to an indie label licensed to Sony.  They released two albums which were critically acclaimed. Some of the guest musicians included members of The Art of Noise, Dave Bronze (Eric Clapton’s bass player), Tobias Boshell (Moody Blues) and Pip Williams who played guitar on the Walker Brothers’ track, ‘No Regrets’.  The albums were produced by Pat Collier, who produced Katrina and the Waves’ international hit, ‘Walking on Sunshine’.  The band went on national tours across the UK until disbanding.

Neil Fitzsimon, the songwriter, and Bee Brogan, the vocalist, then went on to form a song writing/production partnership that led to placement of their songs in Film and TV.  They also wrote a musical, Jack Dagger, which was showcased at the Greenwich Theatre, London for the Musical Futures Award.  It was also showcased at the Bridewell and the Royal College of Music in London.  They have also just had a song placed in a USA Sci Fi Feature film. They recently had a track reach number 3 in a French national download chart. Their single, Girl in a Gilded Cage, reached number one on the iTunes chart in Belgium for all genres.

All songs are written by Neil Fitzsimon.  Vocals, keyboards, drums and engineering by Bee Brogan.  All guitars played by Neil Fitzsimon. All mixed by Pat Collier at Perryvale Studios, London.

Fitzsimon and Brogan see themselves as a studio act much in the vein of Tin Tin Out and Talk Talk.  Their influences range from The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Webb, Jacques Brel, The Smiths and David Bowie. Their aim is to produce pure pop for now people.

They are honoured now to be working with one of their heroes, David Bowie’s drummer from The Spiders from Mars, Woody Woodmansey. Previous to this they worked with Elvis Costello’s drummer, Pete Thomas. These new tracks are on their newest album, This Wicked Pantomime which is to be released soon.

FITZSIMON AND BROGAN

Every once in a while, we like to push the boundaries of the scope of the pop music we release. FaB (Fitzsimon and Brogan) are one such example. In the 90’s, Neil Fitzsimon and Bee Brogan were both members of the band Pretty Blue Gun who were signed to Cavell Records, an indie label licensed to Sony.

They released two critically-acclaimed albums. After PBG split, the couple went on to form a song writing/production partnership that led to placement of their songs in film and TV. All the songs on this specially-priced 2CD “This Wicked Pantomime” (Disc 2 consists of 11 previously unreleased tracks) are written by Neil who also plays all of the guitars. Vocals, keyboards, drums and engineering is by Bee.

Bee’s a vocal phenomenon with a unique range. At times, she can sound like Peter Perrett of The Only Ones, and at others, like a sultry Marianne Faithfull. David Bowie’s drummer from The Spiders from Mars, Woody Woodmansey and Elvis Costello’s drummer, Pete Thomas both guest on the record.

The record was mixed by Pat Collier (of The Vibrators).

This Wicked Pantomine at Koolkatmusik

These days, it’s rare enough to find an artist you truly love, be it an actor, musician or director.

It’s even more rare, however, to find one who is naturally skilled in all three sectors and manages to produce a delightful result every single time. That’s right, in this article, we’re talking about American artist Shani, a talented singer, and songwriter, as well as a gifted performer, director, producer, and actress. At first glance, it seems there’s truly nothing Shani can’t do (and do well, at that!).

The Los Angeles-based artist has penned multiple award-winning tracks, such as “El Llamar de Pasión – Call of the Wild” in the movie “Crash”, and “Rise” from the soundtrack for “American Wrestler”, which she performed with fellow musician Andy. Miami-based electro-funk duo Afrobeta will debut the music video for their new song, “Chancletazo,” a Spanish-language track, and lead single off their upcoming album, Illusion Motel. Directed by Miami native Biagio Musacchia, the video plays out like a quirky short film. In it, a young teenage boy is plagued by the chancletazo, which for the uninitiated–is a verb meaning “to smack with a chancleta, i.e., a flip flop sandal”.

Despite not speaking Spanish, director Biagio says of the song, “It lends itself to the magic of the chancleta I always heard about growing up. Stories of chancletas swerving around corners and navigating hallways to precision strikes.” Magical realism weaves itself throughout the video as the boy is visited at nightfall by the Rat King, who promises to lead him to a curandera, or witch, who can put a spell on his mother’s chancletas, rendering their striking force useless. Along the way, he meets a synth wizard who provides a map to the witch’s lair. The boy follows the map tracing his way through local Miami haunts until he finally reaches a tent in the woods for a fateful meeting with the witch.

Afrobeta has been tearing up dance floors in their hometown since 2006. Formed by lyricist/vocalist Cuci Amador and synth-centric producer/arranger Smurphio, their mutual love of catchy songwriting, Cuban pastries, and dancing til’ 5 AM, is what initially inspired them to make music together.

14-year-old Caroline Grace is reminding the world, and other kids her age, that we have to come together to make the change we want to see in the world with her debut release, Open Your Mind. The 8th grader from Cincinnati, Ohio is sharing her first original song along with a powerful music video that advocates for equality and urges listeners to do what is right during these divisive times.

Produced and co-written by recording artist Alex Angelo, Open Your Mind is a sweet melodic ballad that is meant to inspire and spread positivity. Caroline shares, “I was inspired to write this song when COVID-19 hit the US and I started seeing it diving groups of people. Instead of trying to come together to work on this problem that affected all of us, there was a lot of blame and judgment. Then, when the attention shifted to racism in this country, I saw even more divide. This continued with PRIDE month in June.

The idea behind this single was to accept other people for who they are, come together and make a change. Instead of bringing others down, we need to raise each other up and come together.” As the song concludes, Caroline sings, “I know I’m young but life is not that long, and I’m old enough to know when something’s wrong.”

“Afternoon Ambience” is an album combining Indian Classical Music and Ambient music, in the World Music genre. It is a lush soundscape for relaxation and rejuvenation.

It is based on Rāga Bhimpalasi, an afternoon rāga. Rāga is the main component of Indian Classical Music.  Rāga, a Sanskrit word, means “that which colours or leaves an impression”.   A mood is created by its notes and phrases, and a full recital of a raga consists of several movements, and is very similar to a western classical symphony.

The listener is brought of a journey through melodic and rhythmic structure and improvisations.

What’s the Unique Thing About This Album ?

Indian Classical music is improvisation in nature.

There are rules (certain notes and phrases) to each raga, and there is a typical progression (discussed below with the details of each track).
The album is one raga – it has the same mood throughout, through movements of freeform melody as well as rhythmic exploration.

Cello and Ambient Guitar are not typical Indian Classical Instruments.  Having these instruments provides another dimension to the album.

The first song particularly has been described as cinematic. Indian Classical music is a tonal music style, all notes are in relationship to the drone.  As opposed to equal tempered tuning required for western music with chords and different keys which slices the octave into equal steps, the Indian notes (Swaras) are based on simple ratios (3/2, 4/3, 5/4, 7/5, etc.) and mimic the relationships with nature.  This adds to the relaxing quality of the music.

1. Unwind (Alaap) [17:29] – Alaap is the beginning of the rāga where the melodic structure is slowly improvised and unveiled in a freeform style without rhythm.  This is performed on the santoor, a 100-stringed Indian instrument, with accompaniment by Bansuri Flute, Cello, Ambient Guitar, Harmonium, and Tanpura (drone instrument).

2. Deeper (Jod) [12:41] – Jod adds a rhythm to the melodic introduction in Alaap.

3. Swirling (Vilambit Gat in Jhaptaal) [14:30] – This is a slow (“Vilambit”) tempo composition (“Gat”) set to a 10 beat (“Jhaptaal”) rhythmic cycle, accompanied by the tabla (Indian hand drums).

4. Building (Madhya Gat in Teentaal) [8:22] – This is a medium (“Madhya”) tempo composition (“Gat”) set to a 16 beat (“Teentaal”) rhythmic cycle, accompanied by the tabla.

5. Ascent (Drut Gat in Teentaal) [6:34] – This is a fast (“Drut”) tempo composition (“Gat”) set to a 16 beat (“Teentaal”) rhythmic cycle, accompanied by the tabla, ending with a very fast climax called Jhala.  In a typical performance this would be the end of the rāga.

6. Let Go [10:27] – A final relaxation with vocal and flute, to integrate the musical journey.

SoulSonic to creatively addresses inequities I have seen, personally experienced, or was made aware of as I grew up. RISE is written in 2020, but could have easily been among the songs played at any operation P.U.S.H rally (People United to Serve Humanity) occurring in Chicago in the 70s as well. Its the spirit, and the intention of the spirit that shapes the music. Chicago will always be part of my creative process.

I am drawn to the cinema of music. Music that makes your spirit rise, soar, reflect, or allows you space to contemplate quiet thoughts or the people and environment around you. This can be achieved boldly or subtly, the thoughts can be in the silences in-between the notes, as long as the music is intentional and present.

My inspiration comes from the Women who raised me, my mother Elizabeth, who’s passed, and the Woman I Love, my wife Jennifer. They are both remarkable women, souls and people. They are and were generous, caring, loving and optimistic beings in a world where it seems there is a little less light everyday.

With “Monsters” the Hamburg singer The Sultan releases his latest work in style of the spooky season. The single is not only a must-have for every Halloween playlist, but also convinces between the lines. As an oriental sultan in a turban, he sings and dances like a Western pop star and thus unites two cultures that are particularly close to his heart. We have now spoken to the Sultan of Pop in an interview about his new single “Monsters” and why his art contributes to inclusion and integration. THE SULTAN OF POP – INTERVIEW  

As pop sultan you have created a unique music project. What does it mean to you to combine Eastern and Western influences?

The Sultan: It’s about combining the best of both influences into one positive concept. I have always been good at finding common denominators. At home we used to live oriental values, among friends and at school I adapted to the Western culture. That’s how I got to know and love both sides and therefore I know exactly how to convey this feeling of unity in an entertaining way. The Sultan of Pop is supposed to make people curious – I mean, a guy with a turban who sings and dances like a Western pop star?

Through my unique modern oriental style I want to bring people of different cultures and different ages together. The whole thing is presented with a big wink, so that my art stands for inclusion and integration. In the long run I want to make The Sultan an experience and thus a kind of paradise world, where everyone can dive into and be motivated. My music is like a flying carpet that takes you there.

Your new single is called “Monsters” and is the Halloween hit par excellence. What was your motivation for making the song?

The Sultan: In the style of the 80s and 90s, such as Michael Jackson’s legendary thriller mini-musical, I wanted to create a Halloween song that would put people in a good mood and carry them away. In the music video we playfully deal with the topic of fear: After all, the biggest “monster” we can encounter in everyday life is our own insecurities, nightmares and “one’s weaker self”.

Do you have a soft spot for the creepy season?

The Sultan: I have always celebrated this day, even though the American trend has long gone unnoticed in Germany. I’m terribly happy that Halloween also plays a significant role in Germany today. In fact, the Sultan of Pop was also created at a Halloween party. I dressed up as the Sultan like in Aladdin and became the star of the evening.

You’ve created a great music video with zombies. How was the production for you and what is behind the idea of the video?

The Sultan: I‘ve had pictures and ideas for the realization of the video right from the beginning of the song and wanted to combine the coolness of the 90s with today’s technology and quality. And the focus is on The Sultan as a modern oriental figure. The music video was produced very elaborately: We worked on different sets and shot almost 24 hours in a row. Nevertheless, all team members were fully motivated and after each scene it was a great pleasure to see the first pictures on the camera monitor, close together. The team was simply great!

 

With your music you are mainly in the pop sector. Are there other genres that influence you in your songwriting?

The Sultan: I’ve completed my Master of Arts in innovation studies, so thinking outside the box is in my blood. I grew up with pop, RnB and gospel, but I know no boundaries in music genres, and I get inspired by all influences, such as classical, rock or EDM.

How does the development process from a song to the final release look like for you?

The Sultan: It is totally different, I don’t have a fixed schedule. Sometimes I just play a note or a chord on the piano and continue to develop the sequence. For “Monsters” I first had a melody in my head, then I spun a chorus to it, very intuitively. The rest of the song was created around the Halloween theme.

How do you continue after “Monsters”? Do you already have new songs in planning?

The Sultan: I do have new songs and themes in the pipeline, but I don’t want to give too much away yet. Of course, I want to produce a new music video for every project. I’m pretty sure that you will like the next songs as much as “Monsters”.

You may recognize Mario Guini from the time he has spent on stage and in studio with some of the biggest artists in the music industry from Marc Anthony to Andres Cepeda to Jennifer Lopez, and he’s not slowing down any time soon.

Her entertainment company comprises film and TV production, stage productions, creation of her own comic book, video game music, personal transformation courses, “Celiane the Voice” merch, building collaborations and a costume and set design entity.

“I’m an entertainer, but I also have a Business background so I knew at the onset of the pandemic that I would have to pivot if I wanted to save my career. I knew that it was no longer business as usual, so I tapped into my talents and skill set and diversified my brand”, said Celiane.

I don’t know about you, but when I watch a movie, I like it to have some sweet tunes on the soundtrack. Otherwise, the experience just isn’t complete for me. Music helps you feel the atmosphere better, it serves to immerse into the story – and personally, I love that.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you’re in good luck, because I’ve got just the thing for you – the independent film “Flint Tale” and its masterful soundtrack.
Directed by Michigan-born Marc Cayce, the film follows the aftermath of the Flint Water scandal from a few years ago, when it was discovered that the water in the area was contaminated. The movie tells the tale of the disgraced chief of police following the scandal, and it’s a well-rounded, compelling journey overall.

But we’re not here to focus on the film itself, but rather the songs that accompany it. Cayce is the founder of Foremost Entertainment, the company which also produced the film, and is also heading the new-founded Foremost Records, which is the label from which most of our artists hail.

Throughout the film, we run into Intelligent Diva, with her classic hit “Sexy Walk”. Intelligent Diva has been gathering quite the following thanks to her sensual, seductive singing style, but also her powerful, compelling voice and the vivid imagery in her lyrics.

I wake up and go to the gym, go to photo shoot and then hang out with my mates, most of the time. Also during the day when I’m out I get random ideas for a song and I immediately write it down.

Melbourne based singer-songwriter Shayne Cook is releasing another two tracks from his debut LP ‘Epiphonetics’ which is due late October.  ‘Restless Lovers’ and ‘Back to Love’ will be available on all digital platforms from August 25.

Born from a gentle descending guitar, ‘Restless Lovers’ is the love you had to have.  The one that’s intense, all consuming, knows how to trigger and will faintly beat in your memories with a promise of good love again.

The piano by Phil Turcio, Bass by Chris Bekker and the drum track from Josh Barber stay restrained but dance in response to the raw and reminiscent lyric.  Orchestral composition by Tilman Robinson and played by City of Prague symphony Orchestra builds on the rawness of this track to bring Producer Simon Moro’s focus’s each element of the song in its own sonic dimension and overall, letting the song guide the production to allow it be the most beautiful song you will here today

‘Back to Love’ was inspired at a particular anxiety fuelled low point of life during the process of writing the album.  Shayne headed to one of his favourite Melbourne parks, Darebin Parklands to drunkenly wallow and sleep out in the car. It was also a full moon which is a stunning view in this park, so ideal for self pity.  The lyrics came to the song that night with a previous guitar part stuck in Shaynes head.  It deals with hitting lows as a person and supposing that happens with people as whole as well – and in that shit storm of feeling the only possible direction other than complete destruction is something that feels in some sort of direction closer to love.

Cook describes ‘Back to Love’ as initially a guitar-based folk song, “but when Chris Bekker came in and improvised a muted and percussive bass line, instantly we knew this is what the song needed – it transformed the song into something completely new.

The guitar driven song became a bass driven song which just really gave the darkness the song deserved. Simon also had an idea to get the orchestra to create the click sounds with their bow and instrument using a techniques called pizzicato.  This just added to the movement.  The last note of the song you can hear the snap of one of the violins bridge plates which we thought made sense just to stop it there”

Shayne Cook Epiphonetics

Shayne Cook is a Brisbane-bred, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter who writes hypnotic songs ranging from dark, simple and haunting to unleashed emotional outpourings.   His musical influences span from Nick Cave to Ainslie Wills, Bon Iver to City and Colour, Tom Isanek to Thom Yorke, Emma Louise and beyond.  With his debut LP ‘Epiphonetics’ Cook has delivered an impressive introduction of 9 songs that highlight a  raw and open songwriter with notable talent, his music not convoluted or overly elaborate, his vocals both fresh and yet familiar, and the songs delivered with heart and honesty.

Atmospheric album opener ‘Stawell Gift’ is driven from a piano riff droning in a hypnotic loop.  Piano, on this and the rest of the album was played by the masterful Phil Turcio with Shayne and producer Simon Moro both adding keys/ piano elements to the track.  Josh Barber added all the additional mood on drums.  The song is particularly personal as it is an ode to Cook’s father, describing his history of being abandoned at an orphanage and eventual adoption.

‘Shouldn’t War’ with its hypnotic percussive colour, haunting legato piano lines and syncopated acoustic guitar is Cook’s response to a someone dear to him revealing having suffered a sexual assault.  The sense of sadness, anger and helplessness felt by both the victim and Cook stayed with him for a long time – his vocals giving full range of expression to the anguish reverberating in the listener.

Third track on the album ‘Blood’ is in essence, about feeling love, almost unexplainable, but coursing through your veins, and the idea of losing that beauty is like a death itself.  The song’s concept had been with Cook for many years, morphing and developing until what it is today.  Producer Simon Moro perfectly highlights each instrument in such an intricate way to allow Cook’s vocals to gently float on the rhythm to end up soaring through the mood shifts. Drums from Josh Barber, Chris Bekker on Bass, and orchestral composition from Tilman Robinson.

‘Matters of the Heart’ features a 12 string acoustic waltzing with the rhythm section while Shayne’s heartfelt vocals describe the decisions made by the heart and also those made by the head.  The impulsive and the considered; the questions we ask about what is or what isn’t “right’,  making a choice fraught with risk; knowing all well the probability of failure,  but still going ahead anyway.  The junction between letting go or holding on tight and seeing where love leads.

Cook originally thought ‘Matters of the Heart’ was a throw –away demo, but album producer Simon Moro heard it and suggested they see how it developed.  His ideas and finesse as a producer/ engineer – including utilising contacts at the City of Prague Symphony Orchestra for strings on the song, helped ensure the song made the cut for his debut, and indeed become the album’s first single, scoring support from the likes of Triple J’s Roots N All and CBAA / 2SER FM’s Dirt Music.

‘Disaster Yet’ is an argument between lovers.  The fight is not the end of the world, and you know the moment you are lying in bed wrapped in each other that it is all going to be ok.  The string arrangement by Timan Robinson sends the song into a dream state leaving the guitar to create the misty lake the dream passes within.  Phil Turcio on piano, Josh Barber on drums, Chris Bekker on bass complimenting the simplicity and movement of the narrative.  Shayne’s vocals sit in a place between both the simplicity and sometimes underlying complexity of the subject matter.

Describing the inspiration for ‘City Fire Lights’ Cook explains “Music has always been my innermost desire to pursue.  Prior to writing this album I was working full time in finance. While I most definitely did enjoy my job I always felt music was my calling and time felt it was slipping away.  Walking away from comfort and predictability can be tough.  I also felt like I had left my run too late, that I’d put it off due to insecurity and waiting for everything to be right.  Turns out there is no such thing as the right time and you can spend all your time waiting for the right time.”  Phil Turcio on Piano a piacere with Shayne sets the introspect of the song while the full band kicks in with resolve.

‘Back To Love’ which received airplay from both Triple J’s Roots N All and Double J’s Stir It Up amongst others started as a guitar based folk song.  As Shayne explains, “When Chris Bekker came in and improvised a muted and percussive bass line instantly we knew this is what the song needed – it transformed the song into something completely new. The guitar driven song became a bass driven song which just really gave the darkness the song deserved. Growing up in a crime infested Elmhurst, these boys didn’t let destiny take over their path. Yet driving their own way but achieving recognitions such as performing in the venues including Latin Quarters, Calle Orange, Club Tabu, Roxy’s Night Club along with forming a record label “Triangle Clique LLC” with its own recording studio and reaching the target of 1000 tracks all from their blood and sweat, we cannot dare imagine the new possibilities these healers will create.

While we as a world speed forward on an uncharted flight to an unknowable destination, predictions and hearsay is all you hear in the backseats on this excursion into a strange new Paradigm.

One prediction that has come to play out is Dar.Ra whose album New Kinda Normal released in 2019 told of tales of future society changes, while the front cover art showed a couple walking down and empty high street in a bubble.

Did he know something we didn’t at the time and was anyone paying attention to the fine lines of that release. Since we have seen massive changes and other artists not releasing any new material, we have seen more out put from Dar.Ra rather than less.

The EP ‘Stand Up For The Heroes’ was an honourable attempt to give the Keyworkers and Frontline Heroes of the Pandemic something more than just a round of applause, something that people could sing and show their Love, with proceeds given to Frontline worker charities.

The ‘Whisky n Honey’ EP featured a great Bowie style track with sublime subplot of a Love given up on for a pursuit of fast love and neon highs only to end up empty and alone wishing for a life that will never come back.

The latest release schedule doesn’t let up with a new single ‘Rise Like The Sun’. A Latin rock groove that cuts through the current climate like a hot knife through butter.

Uplifting sunshine grooves with remixes from Colombian to India, the UK with a few European mainland connections thrown in for good measure. The lyric suggests not been held down by the people in high places, the unknown powers who make decisions about out lives that we have no control over.

‘I want to rise like the sun and hold back for no one’ is a lyric sung with power and persuasion by Dar.Ra who takes a further dig at those powers by singing;

‘I wanna live the dream with impunity like the rich do with ease’, ‘I been crying crying out loud I been down in the dirt the dirt and the dust,
Trying to reach up from the gutter to the stars’

Sums up the frustration of the singer to be heard in a world that is obsessed with money and power rather than concern for the real issues that we face as a human race.

Dar.Ra has a way however of making the Music and melodies sound so sweet that you would miss the subliminal storylines that lurk beneath the clean mixes and beautiful musicianship on each track he puts out.

On the ‘Rise Like The Sun’ single there are 6 mixes all named after different places on the globe in an attempt to bring the world together rather than see ourselves separated by colours and creeds. Columbian Sun Cut is the real deal in the Latin house area and Vidula a producer from Sri Lanka puts his distinct flavours on his Indian Sun Remix.

The other remixes come from Dar.Ra and have an Indigenous theme to them as is also reflected in the Cover artwork which pays homage to the Aboriginal national flag.

Dar.Ra Biography

Dar.Ra is a Music Writer, Producer and Author who earned his stripes with hits for EMI and 21St Century Artists and set up the Kusha Deep Label in the 2000s releasing his first solo Album in 2009, called ‘Soul Hours‘. The UK, USA music press and radio, made Album of the week on Heart FM Spain, supported the album.

One of the tracks ‘Haunted Dancehall’ featured in a Hollywood film staring Hilary Duff and ‘Snakes On Planes’. Dar.Ra played on BBC Radio Cambridge to a million people live when they connected up their regional stations around the Midlands.

Various EPs ‘Now Is Now’, Live For Love, Cease Fire and soundtrack to film documentary ‘City Of Hope’ have also had millions of streams and lead to the recent album ‘New Kinda Normal’.

The Rock N Roll tour de force, that has seen three singles really make some movements happen in America, with well received Music video’s for ‘Rock Steady’ and ‘Night-Stepper’ being shot in NYC, while ‘Diamonds N The Shadows’ being shot in Atlanta.

His recent EP release, Flamboyant, is a great example of the hard work and passion that fuel his music. The EP has some really great melodies, a punchy, driven beat and more importantly, a smooth flow that highlights Luca’s incredible production prowess, as well as his ability to come up with tracks that are catchy, direct and easy to relate to.

The EP, with its vocabulary of sounds was conceived in Los Angeles. California. This is the place where the kingdom of summer lasts twelve months a year, and it’s seldom dark and gloomy.
