September 2024 – The Austrian pop band Gentle Glow, consisting of 5 members, including the two songwriters Jasmin Neuninger and Roman Schrank, will present their new single “Do iT” on September 20, 2024. The track is a spontaneous reflection on the band’s journey and an exploration of their artistic resilience.

The band teamed up to record their new track “Do iT” at Boogie Park Studios, one of the most successfu music studios in Germany. The creation of this song is something very special because it actually came about completely by chance and almost spontaneously.

“Do iT” offers an insight into the personal and professional challenges that Jasmin Neuninger and Roman Schrank faced in the past year. The song’s creation is associated with a pivotal moment in the band’s career. While Jasmin thought about a possible job change, Neuninger and Schrank struggled with whether they should continue to invest in their music production, music marketing and instruments or focus on something else instead. This period of uncertainty led to a critical decision point for both, compounded by the challenges presented by today’s highly competitive music industry.

“Do iT” emerged from a spontaneous session in the rehearsal room at that time. In a spark of creative momentum, the two decided not to rehearse their usual live set and routine for once. Instead, they improvised new music just to make something that was more fun and more liberating for both of them. This impromptu session led to the creation of the song and captured a moment of unplanned inspiration that really paid off. The text was written after the session. That same evening, it embodied a sense of urgency and a desire to act instinctively rather than routinely and to keep that creative flame alive.

In a landscape where musicians are often confronted with the dichotomy between passion and sustainability, Gentle Glow’s new release is a reminder of the profound meaning of music that goes beyond financial gain. “Do iT” conveys the message of following your intuition and seizing the moment, which reflects a broader “carpe diem” philosophy. This was the first MATD song Marcos Kuusjärvi and Veli Eronen sent to Finland’s Eurovision Song Contest. The song didn’t qualify, and it was never released. The song was completely remade in 2024, and the lyrics were also changed to a “lighter direction”. At the same time, it became more of a rock song.

The original idea of the song was that dictators don’t have a happy ending! The people will eventually revolt and put an end to the dictatorship. Maybe not the ultimate Eurovision material. The song was transformed to tell a new kind of story. In the new version, we approach a relationship. What could a cheating spouse read from your lips? Singer Johanna Koskiniemi is a former music class teacher who has also just completed a basic degree in metalwork. She has always loved music and has been involved in some way with music all her life. Johanna has studied piano, saxophone, and trumpet and has also taken singing lessons.

She has also been seen in various singing competitions and theater productions and has studied music and acting all the way abroad. Johanna has been voted FinnRadio.FM’s hit Artist of the Year two years in a row, and the song she recorded, Tee Mulle Taivas, was chosen on the same channel as Hit of the Year 2023.

Nowadays, Johanna has consciously moved in a more pop direction in her production. The wonderful collaboration that started a year ago with the band MATD now continues with an even rockier song. Read My Lips is Johanna’s second English recording. It is a survival story about a difficult relationship and breakup. It is even faintly psychedelic verses lead the listener to a moment when they realize that life is far too short to waste on a bad relationship; stop crying, everything will be alright!
