DISCOVER HOUSE DANCE EDM : ‘Happy Sadness’ by ‘Guantamano Bae’ is an epic dance cut that took inspiration from time spent working as a prison guard in Guantanamo Bay.

Guantanamo Bae took inspiration for this single from time spent working as a prison guard in Guantanamo Bay. Experiencing a spectrum of emotions while dealing with the secluded conditions, GB wrote ‘Happy Sadness’. This creative piece, in today’s climate of isolation due to the global pandemic, provides an uplifting dance track that allows the listener to zone out and enjoy the positive energy emitted from this single.

James Jager’s remix of the single adds to the original intention of GB by creating an epic dance track that is expertly produced, allowing the listener to disappear into the euphoric flow of the melody effortlessly. Various instrumental drops throughout the track, like the one found around the three minute mark, add just the right amount of space for anticipation to build, resulting in a gratifying sound that will absolutely please fans of dance music.

A powerful bass-line, coupled with panned instrumentation, an energetic beat and an addictive vocal line amalgamate to form a sound that is both unique to James Jager and true to the original single. Make sure you follow James and GB on their social media to keep up to date with upcoming releases and performances!

Guantanamo Bae’s (GB) prodigious power to compose innovative and superior EDM tracks began as a pastime in college that fused into publishing on streaming platforms.  Garnering responses from exuberant supporters, GB turned his attention to live performances, a serious-minded craft that is as important to producing the music alone.

Amid the global explosion of Electronic Dance Music, a genre that thrives almost exclusively in nightclubs and festivals of cosmopolitan cities, GB emerged from the small farm town of DeSoto, Missouri.  After serving in the U.S. Navy, he relocated to New York City to attend college and the music passion began.

Experimenting with GarageBand and advancing to Ableton GB., GB was able to share tracks with close friends at house parties and small club gatherings in New York City.

Guantanamo Bae understands everyone’s need for a diversion from these challenging.  He accomplishes this by incorporating melodic mixes and uplifting elements that is a celebration on the dance floor.

With sizeable performances shows forthcoming, GB is excited and focused to carry on his rapid rise out of a small farm town to the around the globe.

DISCOVER COUNTRY ROCK OF 2020: With a warm well produced country sound, ‘Paradise Motel’ ride into lockdown towns with big, real, sentimental, fun and melodic songs on their touching, epic  and grand album ‘Black Dove’

If You Ever Leave Me” hovered around as an idea for a song for about 30 years. Glenn Ellery is the primary writer and I remember us chatting about “If you ever leave me, can I come too?” as early as 1990.

Glenn presented a rough demo and after some adjustments and alterations in the chorus and the bed tracks we produced what you’re about to hear. It’s a fun kind of a tongue-in-cheek look at traditional country music and we really enjoyed the process of taking it from rough demo to the finished song. We hope you like it!!Ray Mussell.

DISCOVER SHORT FILMS AND MUSIC VIDEO TRENDS of 2020: ‘Mackenzie Nicole’ drops a forward thinking epic musical film with her modern masterpiece ‘Mystic’ out now on Strange Films

In the spring of 2018, Mackenzie Nicole unveiled her debut album, The Edge.

It’s songs tallied over 1 million Spotify streams, and her videos totalled 8 million-plus views.

On the outside, Mackenzie seemed to be a happy and fearless 18-year-old whose hard work and talent was starting to pay off. On the inside, she was literally fighting for her life.

She explains, “The first time I remember contemplating suicide, I was six years old, so I’ve been no stranger to mental illness. However, I learned how to cohabitate with my demons, viewing my suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, and OCD as a sort of haunted house in which I was forced to reside.”

She continues, “When I thought I could suffer no more surprises at the hands of my mental state, I was blindsided by an acute mental breakdown that overtook my entire life. When my psychiatrist diagnosed me with bipolar I disorder, I felt a sense of relief.”

As Mackenzie dove into her ongoing journey of recovery, she also had a responsibility to start writing and recording a new album.

With a sense of obligation to her own mental health and a need to reach anybody else that might be struggling, Mystic was born.

“I knew immediately the story must be told. I promptly began recording an autobiographical chronicle of my odyssey through the stages of mental health.”

Tapping into a reflective and ethereal vibe throughout the songs and visual story, she shares her innermost insecurities, struggles, and triumphs, hoping to connect with others through shared experiences. Mystic is more than a concept album. It is a personal yet relatable journal both musically and visually.

“This is an important topic,” says Mackenzie. “I wanted to handle it in an artistic and personal way. If you have been in the dark place, you know it is a little monster always ready to destroy you. I hope people walk away with a greater understanding of themselves and others.

DISCOVER ELECTRONIC POP DROPS OF 2020: ‘N2BLÜ’ release a meditative, infectious ‘pop mantra’ of a single with the reflective, catchy, warm and poppy sleek journey of ‘Better Now’

Pop Dance masters N2BLÜ return in true style with an incredible, epic and different pop single.

The new single ‘Better Now’ comes packed with an electro ‘Cloudbusting’ beat vibe and ‘The Might be Giants’ pop flair and could be their biggest hit yet.

Shimmering synths, pounding drums, warm sensitive vocals and lyrics, 80’s pop sensibility and a big song treatment.

If this doesn’t stick in your head nothing will.

When asked about the meaning behind the single Jonathan from N2BLÜ said:

Better Now is a very personal song about a past relationship and a past version of myself (Jonathan). I used to feel unworthy of love and that lead me to relationships and people that weren’t the healthiest. The journey to self acceptance is not an easy one and it never really ends. It’s something we have to work on every day and all we can really hope for is to be better now than we were then”.

LYRICS SPOTLIGHT – BETTER NOW

Better Now by N2BLÜ

Just like a hole in the heart of the ocean

You make me wish that I could drown

Keep pouring myself into your void of emotions

As your anchor pulls me down

And I’m losing myself just to feed your ego

But it’s never enough to make this love grow

Even though we don’t fit, you don’t stop me trying Leaving me the only one crying

But I know better now I know better I I know better now I know better I I know better now Better now

Better now Better now Better now Better now

Wearing the mask of someone who knows love

Your flashing colors draw me in

Painting my fantasy as you fit me like a glove

Where you end and I begin?

You keep drawing me in with flames of passion

When all that I want is your love reaction

Even though it’s not right, I still do it for you

Hoping someday you’ll be the one that’s true

But I know better now I know better I I know better now I know better I I know better now Better now

Better now Better now Better now Better now

You were the one I thought I wanted You were the one I thought I needed You were what I thought I deserved I deserve

You were the one I thought I wanted You were the one I thought I needed You were what I thought I deserved I deserve…

Better now I know better I I know better now I know better I

I know better now Better now Better now

Better now Better now Better now I deserve better now I deserve better now

Better now Better now Better now I know better I

I know better now I know better Better now

Better now Better now

HISTORY OF N2BLÜ

The previous hit single from N2BLÜ  was entitled ‘Again’.

Born in New Orleans, Jonathan Arceneaux started singing not long after he learned to talk and hasn’t stopped singing since!

At a very young age Jonathan began his career as a singer in a church choir and started taking voice lessons in both classical and musical theatre styles. During his High School years in Baton Rouge, LA, Jonathan continued singing in the choir and participated in several musical theatre productions. He also started to tap into his writing talents as a freshman in High School, drawing inspiration from some of his favourite bands and artists like Better Than Ezra, Duncan Sheik and Savage Garden.

Over the years following, Jonathan began to realize that his true passion was singing and writing Pop music, so he changed his focus from classical and music theatre to be a full time Pop singer/songwriter. He is a passionate, true artist with emotional expression through his writing, production, and performance. Jonathan also enjoys collaborating with other artists to meld unique tastes in sound and texture.

In 2008 he worked with hit producers I-ROC (Universal Music/HappyMadison Productions/BZEE ROC) and RADIO (Chris Brown’s “Dreamer”/Blake Lewis’ “End of the World”).

As a result of the collaboration with RADIO in 2009, Jonathan released “From The Ashes”, under the name Jay Arseno, his sophomore follow up to his debut album in 2008, “Face In You Crowd”, under the name Jonathan Adam.

After the loss of his father to kidney cancer in August of 2009, Jonathan took some time off from music and in 2013 he decided to move from his home in Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA for an immersive experience in the heart of the music industry.

While he learned a lot about the industry and himself, Los Angeles was not a good fit for him. So, in 2015 Jonathan decided to get back to his roots and move back home to the Big Easy, New Orleans. Not long after moving to New Orleans, Jonathan met Konstantin Smorodnikov, a personal trainer originally from Russia who had a love and talent for music as well.

Jonathan and Konstantin had an instant connection as friends and decided to start working on music together. While Jonathan came from more of a pop music writing background and classical vocal training, Konstantin’s background was in the club and dance music scene. The next couple of years lead to the duo developing a seamless blending of Jonathan’s lyrics and vocals and Konstantin’s beats and instrumentation to create a sound all their own. In July 2018 they were approached by Loren Israel to participate in his song writing mentorship program.

Little did Jonathan and Konstantin know that this would be an integral turning point in their musical journey.

After a year of instruction, guidance, and tough love from Loren and by honing their skills in song writing and lyricism, they have emerged as the duo, N2BLÜ.

Born and raised in Kostroma, Russia, Konstantin Smorodnikov fell in love with music at early age. It was the structure of rhythm and arrangement that most interested him.

Around 15 is when he was introduced to computer music production.

At 18 moved to America where spent most of his 20’s going out to local dance clubs and learning all he could about technical side of production and sound engineering. He drew inspiration from DJ’s like Peter Rauhofer and Abel Aguilera.

In 2016 he met Jonathan Arceneaux. They realized that they both shared a passion for similar sounds and ideas in music and decided to give a musical partnership a shot.

DISCOVER CLASSIC GRUNGE PIONEERS: Get the rock n’ roll 3 decade lowdown on Seattle grunge legends ‘The Fire Ants’ as they get you rocking and ‘Stripped’

The Fire Ants may not have gained worldwide popularity yet, but they need no introduction to the fans of the Seattle sound that defined a generation.

The year was 1992 when Seattle’s grunge scene was making waves across the city, and the band released their six-song EP “Stripped” on Dekema Records.

The EP was recorded by legendary Sub Pop and grunge producer Jack Endino, who also recorded and produced albums for Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Soundgarden.

He is credited with helping to create Seattle’s grunge movement and sound. The album was remastered by Endino in 2015 and re-released by Dekema Records as a Deluxe Edition with nine additional demo tracks the band recorded back in 1992, prior to the Endino sessions, with Marty Jourard, a member of 80’s New Wave band The Motels.

Members of The Fire Ants band include Chad Channing, Nirvana’s original drummer, Brian and Kevin Wood (brothers of Andrew Wood, formerly of Mother Love Bone) and Dan McDonald (former bassist for Native Messiah and Strait Face).

Chad was the drummer on Nirvana’s first album “Bleach”, and he originally played on demos for what would become the “Nevermind” album.

Brian and Kevin’s brother Andrew Wood was the lead singer of Mother Love Bone until his passing in 1990. The members of Mother Love Bone went on to team up with Eddie Vedder and became Pearl Jam.

Prior to The Fire Ants, Kevin and Andrew Wood were in the influential Seattle band Malfunkshun.

FA_Cover_Small

The band’s record Stripped received a great response from grunge fans when it was initially released back in 1992.

The opening track of the album, “Bodies by the Side of the Road” reminds one of bands like Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots while “Mine, His, Alive” is the most hard-hitting track on the album with its monolithic guitar riffs and gnarly vocal tones.

The song “100 Wives” has Led Zeppelin influences, and the intro to “Waiting on Your Love” has a hard-hitting rock and roll vibe.

The demo track “She Drove Me Crazy” offers a cool insight into the band’s rehearsal process.

All in all, the album has a certain nostalgia as it acts as a memory of an era when grunge music evolved over a decade from having a softer side to taking a dark twist in the second half of the ’90s.
